JazzFest announces 2023 lineup

May 11, 2023 | 4:15 PM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Medicine Hat JazzFest is set for its 27th year of entertaining the Gas City.

On Thursday, the headliners for the June 19-25 festival were announced and tickets were made available.

Headliners include two-time Juno Award-winner Caity Gyorgy in a double bill with The Ostara Project. The Florian Hoefner Trio is also headlining in the Esplanade Lobby. Malika Tirolien of Montreal opens the festival and Mazacote headlines the Airport hangar dance party.

“Music is a reminder that share more with each other than we differ,” says executive and artistic director Rebbeck. “And so music and festivals and dancing and parties and relaxing together on a terrace or a front lawn are things that really bring a community together I think now more than ever, and we play an important role in that.”

Artists range from Juno Award-winning performers to local artists from the Medicine Hat area.

There are some new and unique ways that the festival aims to make for a memorable experience. Rebbeck says these include drum circles and a combination of free and ticketed concerts.

“We’re always trying to make our festival accessible to as many people as possible, affordable and to get it out into the community and that lawn at the Esplanade is in the heart of downtown, there is lots of traffic and lots of people walking past and that’s a way for us to connect with our community,” he says.

You can get your JazzFest Pass at the Esplanade or online at tixx.ca.

The festival has won awards and established itself as part of the cultural, tourism, and economic life of Medicine Hat.
