MEDICINE HAT, AB – The weather is calling for a cloudless day for the 44th annual Rattler Run taking place around the scenic trails of Medicine Hat.

A good thing, because there are almost 600 competitors registered for the event this saturday.

One athlete stands out, because of his big dreams on the track.

Second time competitor Keegan Kolody will be running in the five kilometer event.

Kolody is currently working towards qualifying for the paralympic games. He says the Rattler Run will serve as a training weekend for him.

His parents will be competing in the race with him.

Willis Kolody voices the pride he feels watching his son compete and strive towards big goals in track.

“It’s just amazing what he’s overcome with his autism diagnoses. He’s just took over running, and he’s very successful doing what he’s done, and we’re super proud,” Willis Kolody expressed.

Keegan Kolody says running has made a large impact on his life.

“It is important to me and it is healthy for me,” he said.

Willis Kolody says his son will be surrounded by a large group of supporters this weekend.

This includes the Medicine Hat Tigers, where Keegan Kolody works during the winter.

The Rattler Run starts Saturday at 10:30 a.m.

The race will start and finish at the Medicine Hat College main campus, for those wanting to cheer on Keegan Kolody and the other competitors.
