Australian-born hooper earns ACAC Rookie of the Year honour

MEDICINE HAT, AB – A Rookie of the Year award is an honour that an athlete only has one shot at, to win it is truly special.

It was announced on Wednesday, that Medicine Hat Rattlers guard Ethan Robinson earned 2022-2023 the ACAC South Male Rookie of the Year award.

Robinson started every game for the Rattlers this year and made a large impact for his team in his first year in Canada.

Despite suffering a hand injury, the Australian-born baller averaged 13.4 points per game with a field goal percentage of 37.2, he also shot 31.4 percent from three-point range.

“It’s a huge, huge accomplishment,” said Robinson, on Monday.

“Im going to take that and use that for the rest of my career and have that in the background.”

Robinson aspires to play basketball professionally. Adding the Rookie of the Year award will help pad his resume as he continues pursuing his dream.
