Cubs come within one victory of series win

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Kyle Woolridge led the Medicine Hat Cubs to a 6-4 victory over the Cochrane Generals in game five of their playoff series at Kinplex on Friday night.

Woolridge scored two goals, adding two assists, he leads the Cubs in playoff scoring with nine goals and 15 points through five games.

With the victory, Medicine Hat takes a 3-2 series lead over Cochrane, coming within one win of closing out their round two playoff series.

After falling down 5-1 in the middle stages of the second period, the Generals scored three straight goals to bring the score back within one.

Kyle Woolridge put the final nail in the coffin, scoring an empty net goal with 1:15 left on the clock in the final frame.

After earning the win, the Cubs will have an opportunity to close out the series in game six on Saturday night at Cochrane Arena, while the Generals fight to keep their season alive.
