MEDICINE HAT, AB – The Medicine Hat Tigers find themselves tied for the final playoff spot after earning three of a possible four points for the second weekend in a row.

A four-goal third-period outburst led the Tigers to a 6-4 win on Sunday over the Regina Pats. The orange and black made it hard on themselves from the start, going down 2-0 and ending the first 20 minutes in a 3-1 hole thanks to a Pasha Bocharov tally.

Pats superstar and likely top pick in this summer’s NHL Entry Draft Connor Bedard scored his third of the night just past the midway point of the second period. Andrew Basha cut the deficit to two once again, setting the stage for the dramatic comeback.

Defenceman Bogdans Hodass scored at 6:28 and 14:34 to tie the game. Tomas Mrsic scored the game-winner at 16:41. The Tigers killed off a late penalty and Brayden Boehm sealed the win with an empty-net goal.

In Moose Jaw one day earlier, the Tigers let a pair of leads get away from them including one late in the third period.

Bocharov and Owen MacNeil had staked Medicine Hat to 1-0 and 2-1 leads. Warriors Atley Calvert first tied it up in the second period and Martin Rysavy scored with 4:15 left to force overtime.

Jagger Firkus scored on the powerplay to give Moose Jaw the win, leaving the Tigers to settle for one point.

This weekend the Tigers will host the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Saturday and the Pats on Sunday.
