LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Police Service says it has one suspect in custody following a homicide.

Just after 11 p.m. on Tuesday, officers were called to a home on the 2500 block of 13th Avenue North on a report of a disturbance involving a man and a woman.

Upon arrival, LPS says a man exited the home and was arrested. Inside the house, police say they found a woman who had suffered critical injuries.

EMS responded and attempted life-saving measures, but she was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The victim’s body is being taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Calgary for an autopsy.

LPS alleges that this was a targeted incident and that the two people involved knew each other.

The man, 59, remains in custody. As charges are pending and have not been sworn in in court, his name cannot be released at this time.

Police are continuing to investigate.
