Canada-wide warrant issued for Calgary man in human trafficking investigation

CALGARY – Police are asking Canadians to be on the lookout for a Calgary man wanted in connection to incidents of human trafficking.

The Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT) Human Trafficking and Counter Exploitation Unit has issued a Canada-wide warrant for Tevin Laramee-Watson, 30.

According to ALERT, the suspect has recently lived in Calgary but has ties to Montreal, Winnipeg, Vancouver, and Grange Prairie.

ALERT began its investigation in February 2021 and has identified multiple victims.

The organization alleges that the suspect is charged with exploiting women for financial benefit from sexual services and for assaulting and threatening one of the victims.

ALERT Calgary Sgt. Colleen Bowers says, “We want to ensure this perpetrator is located and placed in custody and we are asking for the public’s help in locating him. Our greatest concern is that more women, in different cities, could be victimized.”

A variety of specialized police agencies assisted in the investigation, including the Calgary Police Service, Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada (FINTRAC), Lethbridge Police Service, Kelowna RCMP, Vancouver Police, K-Division RCMP, and Tsuut’ina Police.

Laramee-Watson is charged with two counts of human trafficking, two counts of financially benefitting from human trafficking, two counts of advertising an offer to provide sexual services for consideration, and two counts of communication for the purpose of obtaining the sexual services of a person.

He also faces one count each of assault causing bodily harm and uttering threats.
