Taste of Cultures underway at the Veiner Centre

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Taste of Cultures is underway until 3:00 p.m. at the Veiner Centre Saturday.

The event is being ran by the Unisphere Global Centre, and is host to about 20 different countries sharing food from their culture.

The food can be purchased via tickets, which cost $2 each. All the proceeds from the tickets purchased go directly back to those who prepared food for everyone to enjoy.

Unisphere Global Centre’s Chair, Shalla Shaharyar says having events like this in the community provide an opportunity to get together, and exchange cultural information.

“We are very proud of our cultures, just like I’m very proud of my canadian culture. So we just wanna make sure we are creating those opportunities for engagement, learning and even friendship.”

Shaharyar as well mentioned the difficulty of putting on such an event, having to coordinate so many different people and build relationships with each person that contributed food from their culture.

When the doors opened for Taste of Cultures the building filled very quickly, and the lineup to get in was still outside the main doors with people excited to try all the different foods.
