Heritage Christmas Market open at Medalta

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Medalta is hosting its Heritage Christmas Market Nov. 25, and 26 where all will be able to experience the museum and the market free of charge.

This marks the 22nd year the market has been running and will host more than 30 local craft vendors, accompanied by live music from Jazz Prescription and food from Copper Leaf Cafe.

Vendors can be found in two separate areas at Medalta, in the reception gallery and the turning gallery. You can expect to see many kinds of ceramics, paintings, textile prints and other creative crafts.

Marketing and communications coordinator Aurelia Archibald says with this being their first year back without any restrictions, Medalta is expecting a solid turnout.

“I think we are gonna have a really good turnout this year, last year with restrictions and all we had over 500 people show up,” she says. “So it was really successful even under the COVID-19 restrictions, so we are expecting about double that this year. We have a lot of our community partners spreading the word as well so we are expecting a great turnout.”

You can check out the market Friday until 8 p.m. or you can see it all Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
