Tigers start off strong, but come up short against the Raiders

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The Medicine Hat Tigers found themselves in another close game Saturday, but fell short 5-4 to the Prince Albert Raiders.

The Tabbies came out ready to go in this contest, scoring only 1:13 into the first period. That tally came off the stick of Shane Smith, for his 7th of the year.

That would stand as the only goal of the first frame, leaving the score 1-0 headed into the second period.

Again Medicine Hat would start the period strong, this time getting on the board only 3:05 in. It was Brendan Lee staying hot, scoring his 6th goal in the last 4 games.

The Tigers would maintain the 2-0 lead for most of the middle frame, but the Raiders would find an answer at 18:23 of the period. It was Sloan Stanick getting his team on the board, with his 5th of the year.

Prince Albert was not done there, as with only 1 second to go in the period they would find the equalizer. The late period heroics came from Evan Herman on the powerplay, for his second point of the game.

Tied 2-2 headed into the third, it was anyone’s game. Logan Kosior would strike first in the final frame on the powerplay to put Prince Albert up by 1. Although Tyler Mackenzie would cash in on the powerplay himself, tying the game up once again at 3-3.

The Third period was not done delivering goals, as the Raiders would strike again to go up 4-3. That was the second goal of the night for Stanick.

This time the Tigers couldn’t answer back before Prince Albert was able to make it a two goal lead, thanks to Herman getting his second of the night as well.

Cayden Lindstrom would score for Medicine Hat at 19:59 of the third, but the Tigers would fall in this one 5-4.

Third star of the contest went to Tigers forward, Mackenzie. He had one goal, moving his point total on the season to 12.

The second star went to Stanick for the Raiders who had 3 points, including an assist on the game winner.

First star of the night went to the Raiders Herman who scored the winning goal, and had 3 points in the game.

The Tigers will return to Co-Op Place for their next game, against the Edmonton Oil Kings.
