Smith, Copping to speak on AHS reform plan

Nov 17, 2022 | 9:31 AM

Alberta’s premier and health minister are set to speak Thursday about the government’s “Alberta Health Services reform plan,” according to a news release.

A news conference with Danielle Smith and Jason Copping is scheduled in Calgary at 2 p.m.

You’ll be able to watch the news conference on chatnewstoday.ca.

Throughout the United Conservative Party leadership campaign and her first month as premier, Smith has been critical of how AHS responded to the COVID-19 pandemic and promised changes to the organization’s management.

She began making those changes Monday, naming Dr. Mark Joffe as chief medical officer of health, replacing Dr. Deena Hinshaw.

At a news conference that same day, she said her “doctor’s advisory committee” would be announced in the coming days.
