Tigers fall 5-1 in Calgary

Nov 5, 2022 | 9:24 AM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The Medicine Hat Tigers lost their fourth game straight, falling to the Calgary Hitmen in a Friday night road game.

It was a hot start for The Tabbies in the Tsuut’ina Seven Chiefs Sportsplex, as only 26 seconds into the game they were on the board thanks to Defenceman Pavel Bocharov securing his 4th goal of the season.

That lead would only hold up for just over 7 minutes before Calgary’s Ethan Moore would get his first WHL goal on the powerplay to tie the game at 1-1.

The Hitmen would continue to press, breaking the tie less than a minute later thanks to the goal from their team leader in points Riley Fiddler-Schultz. That tally would stand as the last of the period, leaving the score 2-1 in favour of the home team.

There would be only one goal scored in the second frame, coming off the stick of Hitmen Forward Oliver Tulk. It was the 7th goal of the season for Tulk, and his 13th point.

Taking a 3-1 lead into the third period, Calgary would add two more goals to secure their lead. The first came from Sean Tschigerl 7:50 into the final frame, and the second would be scored by Carter Yakemchuk to finalize the score at 5-1.

All three stars went to the Hitmen, including Riley Fiddler schultz with 3 points, Sean Tschigerl with 2 points and London Hoilett with 2 points in that order.

Following the loss, Medicine Hat now holds a record of 4-7-3 through 14 games this season, and sit 10th in the eastern conference.

The Tigers don’t have much time to rest, as they head back home for a 7:00 p.m. matchup at Co-Op Place Saturday against the Lethbridge Hurricanes. The hat defeated Lethbridge 9-1 in their home opener matchup on Sept. 24.
