Medicine Hat sets heat record on Saturday

BOW ISLAND, AB – Albertans are experiencing record-breaking temperatures during the Labour Day weekend.

Environment Canada says new daily maximum temperature records were set in 37 different communities on Saturday, September 3, 2022.

Medicine Hat got the hottest at 38.4 degrees Celsius, breaking the city’s previous record of 36.8 set in 2009.

Three communities broke their 1938 heat records including Athabasca (31 degrees in 2022), Beaverlodge (30.8), and Camrose (33.4).

Despite Lethbridge reaching 34.4 degrees, it did not set a new record.
