MEDICINE HAT, AB One person was arrested and more than $100,000 worth of drugs was seized after a Medicine Hat hotel room was searched last week.

ALERT says its Medicine Hat organized crime team and Medicine Hat Police Service made the seizure and arrest on Aug. 11 after a call from a member of the public was made about a dog in distress. Criminal intelligence was shared between the two partner agencies concerning suspected drug trafficking activity in the region.

A search warrant was executed at a hotel in Ross Glen, resulting in the seizure of 242 grams of fentanyl, 252 grams of methamphetamine and 423 grams of cocaine.

The drugs have an estimated street value of $106,000.

“This is a siginifcant amount and that why he was charged with trafficking of the substances and the investigation is still ongoing into the trafficking of the illicit drugs but because of the quantity of the seizure he’s definitely been charged with trafficking and it is significant for this community.” says Staff Sgt. Ryan Thorburn.

  • Possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking;
