Mavericks one win away from WCBL finals

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The Medicine Hat Mavericks hung on to win 2-1 in Moose Jaw Friday night, taking game one in the East division finals.

The winner of the best of three series will head to the WCBL finals. It would be the Mavericks’ first trip to the finals since 2018.

The Mavericks had a 1-0 lead over the Miller Express for five innings before Moose Jaw tied the game in the eighth.

The winning run came from Mav’s third baseman Ranciel Ventura at the top of the ninth.
