Highway 5 closed south of Lethbridge after semi-truck hauling pigs hits the ditch

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Raymond RCMP has closed Highway 5 south of Lethbridge and is redirecting traffic north of Welling after a semi-truck hauling a load of pigs was involved in a collision and ended up in the ditch.

RCMP have been on the scene since around 11:30 a.m. Thursday. At least one other vehicle was involved in the collision, but police have not confirmed if any people or animals were injured in the crash.

Another semi-truck was brought in to load up the pigs and transport them out of the area.

Highway 5 remains closed while crews clean up the scene. LNN will provide more details as they become available.
