Museum and Rec Tangle first on the list

Redcliff council approves five-year repair plan for town properties

REDCLIFF, AB — A tender is being prepared for work at the Redcliff Museum, the next step in a multi-year plan of repair and restoration to a number of town-owned buildings.

Redcliff Town Council has approved $375,000 for work this year at the museum and the Rec-Tangle.

This comes after a review of a facility assessment report that began earlier this year after an initial report recommended the demolition of the museum and a long list of repairs to other facilities.

Town manager Phyllis Forsyth says they’ve developed a five-year plan to deal with the issues.

“Over the next five years council has looked at what can be done, what it’s going to cost and how much money we need,” explains Forsyth.

For 2022, council has authorized an expenditure of $375,000 from the accumulated surplus to do some work on both the Rec-Tangle and the museum.

The Redcliff fire hall, library, senior centre and aquatic centre are also on the list of buildings that will require repairs over the next five years.

It’s anticipated work on the Redcliff museum will get underway in September or October of this year.
