Jun 9, 2022 | 5:14 AM

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The province has released its latest weekly report on COVID-19. The numbers reported in this update reflect data from May 31-June 6, 2022.

During that time, 1,840 cases were confirmed across the province for a daily average of 263.

12,230 tests were conducted over the last week, meaning the positivity rate was 15%.

In the South Zone, 77 people tested positive, or 11 per day. There were 14 new cases in Lethbridge, averaging two each day.

Over the last week, 12 Albertans died from COVID including six in the Calgary Zone, three in the Edmonton Zone, two in the South Zone, and one in the Central Zone. The number for the North Zone decreased by three, which often means that the initial cause of death was recorded as being COVID-19 but later was determined to be something else.

The deaths in the South Zone were for residents of Lethbridge County and Fort Macleod.

Provincially, 816 patients are currently hospitalized including 24 who have been admitted to intensive care. This marks a decrease of 115 for hospitalizations and five for ICU compared to last week’s report.

Both the South and North Zones reported zero COVID-19 patients in ICU this past week.
