MEDICINE HAT, AB — A sure sign of the change in season is the return of the Farmers’ Market at the Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede.

The market returns this Saturday to begin its 25th season of operation at the Stampede grounds.

The market has become a Saturday ritual for many people over the years, offering a chance to visit with friends and neighbours while supporting local vendors.

The past two years have seen the market functioning under pandemic restrictions, but coordinator Doreen Gunderson says when the doors open this Saturday, it will feel very different.

“It’s been two years since we have to do the masking, sanitizing, six-foot distancing and this year we’re back without any of the rules in place so it’s going to be so great,” says Gunderson.

Gunderson says vendors will have seasonal items this weekend including floral displays, with B.C. fruits expected to return in June.

The first market is this Saturday from 9 a.m to 1 p.m. at the fieldhouse in the Cypress Centre in Medicine Hat.
