MEDICINE HAT, AB- A local family is shaken after a vehicle tore through their complex, and hit their home.

Alexis BigEagle was at her Maple Avenue home the moment the crash occurred.

“We thought it was a home invasion, someone trying to break in, because my son’s bedroom window, it was smashed, and my boyfriend and I got up, went running to the deck because I was going to jump over because I thought someone was going to break in. But then I happened to notice my deck was missing,” BigEagle said.

BigEagle looked outside only to see a car near the unit next to them.

“I just saw four people and the one person kept saying ‘I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry,”‘ she said.

L.J Langan was also inside the same unit.

“I was just sleeping and then I thought it was bombs I don’t know why. But I was just sleeping and then I woke up, and I was shook,” she said.

BigEagle’s 16-year-old son managed to escape without any major injuries, and he is now cleaning up from the aftermath of the crash.

“He did get a scratch on his face from the glass shattering in his room. But other than that he seems to be okay at the moment,” she said.

His T.V and bed have been damaged. But BigEagle said she is thankful that her son is okay.

“It’s just material. I don’t know what I would have done if I lost my son so I’m glad she is safe, everything else can be replaced.” she said
