MEDICINE HAT, AB — One of the leading candidates in the leadership race for the Conservative Party of Canada will be coming to Medicine Hat next month.

Pierre Poilievre will be the guest at a fundraising dinner on April 11 at the Cypress Centre.

The event is being hosted by the Medicine Hat-Cardston-Warner Conservative Association, and by MP Glen Motz.

Motz announced his support for Poilievre last month, saying he believes he has what it takes to become Canada’s next prime minister.

“He was born and raised in Calgary and lived there for the first 22 years of his life,” says Motz.

The local MP says “Poilievre has great western roots, he understands our culture, he understands our industries and he’s sound economically.”

In the 2020 Conservative leadership contest, Motz supported MP Leslyn Lewis, but is endorsing Poilievre this time, based on feedback in the riding and his belief that he has the experience and proven leadership needed to lead Canada and a Conservative government.

Tickets for the April 11 fundraising dinner are priced at $200, with the donor receiving a $150 federal tax receipt.

Motz says sales were brisk in the first hours after they went on sale.
