MHC following provincial plan to ease public health restrictions

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Medicine Hat College no longer requires proof of vaccination, a negative COVID-19 test or a medical exemption to enter its facilities.

The announcement came shortly after Premier Jason Kenney revealed Alberta would be phasing out public health measures. Currently, the college only requires masking on campus and asks people to stay home if they’re sick.

Come March 1, the province will be removing mandatory masking requirements and MHC will follow suit.

The executive director of advancement and community relations says their job is to provide an environment where everyone feels acknowledged and comfortable.

“Truly the college’s goal throughout the pandemic has been to reduce risk as we can and provide access to education in all the variety and format that students prefer,” Mark Keller said. “We’ve been trying to balance that out while we respond to align with the government restrictions and we are going to stay in that space to our very best ability.”

The provincial work from home requirements will also be lifted on March 1.
