Tim Hortons coming to Maple Creek

MAPLE CREEK, SK – One of Canada’s most well-known fast-food chains is coming to Maple Creek.

A Tim Hortons will soon be under construction and is expected to open in town this summer.

The idea was first brought to the town’s attention in the fall of 2020 by Canalta, who is the project’s general contractor.

The drive-thru restaurant will be located north of Maple Creek’s railway tracks, near the Co-op gas bar and ball diamonds.

Mayor Michelle McKenzie is thrilled about the new business that is expected to create 10-15 jobs. She says another business involved in Maple Creek makes them stronger but hears the concerns from some residents.

“People are saying it’s just another franchise coming in and going to take away but I don’t believe that,” McKenzie said. “I believe it’s an added opportunity to the town of Maple Creek and it’s going to provide some good jobs for our youth.”

The mayor says Tim Hortons being in town will hopefully draw more people into Maple Creek as well

McKenzie is hoping Tim Hortons will be open by the beginning of July which would also be good timing for tourism season.
