What’s open and closed New Year’s weekend around the Hat

MEDICINE HAT, AB – As the year comes to a close, some businesses will follow suit giving employees some time off this weekend.

Here’s what’s open and closed around Medicine Hat as the city rings in the new year.

The Big Marble Go Centre will be open noon to 5 p.m. on New Year’s Day and will return to normal hours on Jan. 2.

The Medicine Hat Public Library closes at 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 31 and will be closed on New Year’s Day and Jan. 2.

The Redcliff Public Library is also closed on the same days.

Medicine Hat Transit runs until 5:15 p.m. New Year’s Eve and won’t be running New Year’s Day. It returns to regular service on Jan. 2.

The Esplanade is closed today until Jan. 3 and will reopen on Jan. 4.

The Root Cellar Food and Wellness Hub is closed until Jan. 3. According to a Facebook post, emergency hampers are available from the Medicine Hat Women’s Shelter Society, Miywasin Friendship Centre, Medicine Hat Regional Hospital, Addiction and Mental Health, Medicine Hat Public Library, The Inner Man and Our Collective Journey.

The city landfill is closed on Jan. 1 and 2 and will resume normal hours on Jan. 3.

Redcliff Town Hall is closed on Jan. 3.

The Cypress County office is closed from noon today until Jan. 4.
