Anthropologist to discuss Casualty Identification Program with local archaeological group
MEDICINE HAT, AB – A forensic anthropologist with the Department of National Defence will discuss her work with the Casualty Identification Program in a virtual presentation to the South Eastern Alberta Archaeological Society this week.
Dr. Sarah Lockyer will discuss the work the program does to reveal and identify the remains of Canadian casualties with no known grave from the First and Second World Wars as well as the Korean War.
Lockyer recently appeared on a podcast hosted by the Juno Beach Centre.
It’s estimated there are close to 27,000 Canadian casualties that don’t have a known grave.
