Bassano resident Brandi Perry was at a bridal shower when the storm reached its peak just after 3:30 p.m.
“It started spitting on us a little bit and it looked pretty dark at the left of us and then the next thing you knew, the wind picked up and the hail started and then we went inside and then it went pitch black, and that was when the storm really, came on in,” she said.
” There were tree branches everywhere, leaves, all you could see, it was completely black, the wind was blowing and nothing but hail,” she added.
Power at her home is still out. About 42 residents remain without power just outside the Bassano area, according to the Fortis Alberta outage map.
