Study to take place on twinning Piikani Nation portion of Highway 3

MEDICINE HAT, AB – More work could soon take place on the twinning of Highway 3 but it won’t be happening near Medicine Hat.

The Piikani Nation, between Fort Macleod and Pincher Creek, has been told by the provincial government it can start making plans for the portion of the highway that runs through their land.

The Highway 3 Twinning Development Association (H3TDA) says the government is also ready to provide funding for a functional planning study once the Piikani Nation has completed a terms of reference.

The Piikani Nation work was one of four sections of the highway identified as priority areas by the H3TDA last October.

Last summer the province announced plans to twin the portion of the highway from Burdett to Taber. That work is set to start sometime this summer.
