City accepting FCSS grant proposal submissions

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Organizations in the city can now submit proposals for a two-year Family and Community Support Services grant.

The grant will run from Jan. 1, 2022 until the end of 2023, and program proposals must reflect preventive social services for Hatters.

The city says applicants must be not-for-profit and must meet the FCSS criteria to be considered.

Areas of need that will be prioritized include:

  • Services for children/youth and families
  • Volunteer development programs that support and/or impact the entire community
  • Mental health supports focusing on unmet needs
  • Programming focused on inclusivity supports for immigrants, newcomers and refugees
  • Programs/projects that increase neighbourhood leadership opportunities

Priority will also be given to programs/projects that directly address COVID-19 restrictions with creative ongoing solutions for delivery of services.

Organizations can find application forms and information about qualifying project on the city’s website.

There will also be two Zoom information sessions will be held on Wednesday, May 26 from 10-11 a.m and Thursday, June 10 from 3-4 p.m.

The city says all questions will be answered then and that people only register for one session.

The deadline to submit proposals is June 30 at 4 p.m.
