COVID-19 cases confirmed at three local schools over weekend

DUNMORE, AB- Seven staff and 88 students have been directed to quarantine after a positive COVID-19 case was identified at Eagle Butte High School.

All close contacts have been identified, according to the Prairie Rose School Division. Siblings and family members of close contacts are not required to self-isolate but they are asked to monitor for symptoms, the notification on their website read.

Eagle Butte High School is now on Alert Status.

According to the Prairie Rose School Division website, all students directed to quarantine will be supported through online and remote schooling.

Also on the weekend, the Medicine Hat Public School Division confirmed positive cases connected to Medicine Hat High School and Crestwood School.

Medicine Hat High School is on Alert Status, and there are currently six cases connected to Crestwood school.

A letter to parents states all close contacts have been identified and directed to quarantine.

The Medicine Hat Public School Division said the safety of students and staff remains their top priority and enhanced cleaning protocols remain in place.
