Inner Man Project launches personal development program

MEDICINE HAT, AB – In less than a year, The Inner Man Project Foundation has grown into a force shining the light on mental health in our community.

And this spring they’re expanding in more ways than just one.

A new sign has been posted outside their south railway street community centre which has already generated attention from the public.

“Having that sign out front from Titanium has just been an absolute blessing. “Now, we’re getting more and more traffic just off the street, people reaching out to us just in the last three or four days we’ve had it,” co-founder Dylan Eckes told Chat News.

They’ve also been able to take advantage of a $50,000 provincial grant they received in February.

That money will be used towards a new 16-week personal development program. Which will focus on establishing life skills for men in our community.

“We need a purpose,” Eckes said. “What this does is just create new skills and for men to see, ‘Okay, maybe I like cooking. Maybe I do like going to the gym, maybe I just need to train differently.’ We have so many different aspects for them to dabble in.”

Registration opens this weekend and will run through May 24 with the program beginning the first week of June.

Eckes adds they’re also hoping to expand to Lethbridge and Red Deer by the end of the year.

“We’re not only seeing growth in Medicine Hat but we have our peer sessions in Calgary now, we’re starting our peer sessions in Edmonton as those have been launched. We’re hoping by the end of this year we’re in Lethbridge and Red Deer as well, that way we’re hitting every major hub in Alberta.”
