COVID-19 update: Province confirms 1,437 new cases and three new deaths

EDMONTON, AB- Alberta Health has confirmed 1,437 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday. Of the total number of new cases , 932 are variants of concern. Currently, 61.1 per cent of the active case count consists of variants of concern.

There are 594 people in hospital, including 140 in ICU.

The province also confirmed three new deaths Sunday.

Approximately 17,000 were completed over the past 24 hours. The provincial positivity rate is 8.6 per cent.

In Medicine Hat, there are 138 active cases in the city, an increase of three from Saturday. The city has 654 recoveries and 17 recorded deaths.

Cypress County has 43 active cases, up from 39 in the last update. A total of 174 people have recovered, and the County has no recorded deaths.

The County of Forty Mile has 11 active cases, 130 recoveries, and three recorded deaths.

Newell County has nine active cases, 167 recoveries, and two recorded deaths.

The city of Brooks has 27 active cases, 1354 recoveries and 14 recorded deaths.

The MD of Taber has 40 active cases, 433 recoveries and six recorded deaths.

The City of Lethbridge has 423 active cases, 3572 recoveries and 35 recorded deaths.

Lethbridge County has 126 active cases, 784 recoveries and nine recorded deaths
