AstraZeneca walk-ins available in Medicine Hat & Brooks

MEDICINE HAT, AB – All Albertans 40 years old and up are eligible to receive the AstraZeneca vaccine.

On Friday in Medicine Hat and Brooks walk-in appointments were available.

According to AHS, AstraZeneca’s first dose reduces the chance of infection by 60-70 percent.

Walk-ins are available on a first-come-first-serve basis at Higdon Hall in Medicine Hat.

100 doses are available per day with more walk-ins on Sunday (Apr.25), Tuesday (Apr.27), and Wednesday (Apr.28)

Over in Brooks, the clinic is at Kinsmen Hall they’re open on Saturday (Apr.24) and Monday (Apr.26) with 80 doses available per day.

Walk-in hours are 8:50 am until 3:40 pm.

AHS says additional walk-in appointments for the AstraZeneca vaccine are expected in the South Zone.

Future dates will be shared, pending vaccine supply.

Meantime, a total of 3,295 people have been vaccinated at Higdon Hall’s rapid flow vaccination clinic since it opened on April 15.

About one-quarter of those vaccinations 804 took place on the first day and nearly 500 people were vaccinated the next two days.

From April 18-22 an average of about 300 people have been vaccinated there.

The clinic can handle more than 2,000 vaccinations daily.

Further information from AHS states:

  • When arriving at the clinic, please bring one piece of identification with you that proves your age. This could include your Alberta Health Care card, a driver’s license, Social Insurance Number, birth certificate, or passport.
  • Wear clothing that will easily allow access to your upper arm for receiving the immunization.
