Development incentive program applications opening this week

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Investors who want to spur the development of the city’s waterfront can apply for a new incentive program beginning this week.

Invest Medicine Hat and the City of Medicine Hat will begin accepting applications at 8 a.m. on March 17.

The program was approved by city council at its meeting on Feb. 16. The aim is for the program to provide a fair and transparent approach to incentives.

The program includes six new development incentives:

• Brownfield Redevelopment Tax Incentive
• Builder Incentive
• Commercial-Industrial Development Tax Incentive
• Waterfront District Housing Incentive
• Waterfront District Vibrancy Incentive
• Residential Infill Incentive
