MEDICINE HAT, AB – City motorists should prepare for two more temporary road closures on city streets next week.

Beginning Sept. 8, Sixth Street SW between Red Deer Drive and Seventh Avenue SW will be closed so crews can begin work on a catchbasin replacement project in the area.

Work is expected to take about three to four weeks to complete. Sidewalks will stay open for pedestrian access.

Beginning on Sept. 9, a portion of Third Avenue SE, including access to the Southeast Hill, will be closed. The road and hill are expected to be closed until early October, depending on the weather.

Detours will be in place and motorists are asked to obey all traffic signs and detours.

The remaining phases of the Spencer Street project are planned for completion in 2020.

Find more information on the project, including a detour map, here.

The City of Medicine Hat thanks residents for their continued patience and understanding during this important infrastructure upgrade project.
