Transformer fire contributed to Monday evening power outage

Aug 18, 2020 | 3:17 PM

About 150 customers in the city’s southwest were without power for up to four hours on Monday evening

Around 7 p.m. a transformer fire blew a fuse upstream, and coupled with heavy power usage left some residents in South Ridge and Saamis Heights in the dark.

Crews isolated the outage down the transformer, leaving just 14 customers in the dark, says the city’s superintendent of stations and equipment Tyler Masson.

Power was restored to all customers by 11 p.m.
