Edmonton man arrested in Brooks after alleged interaction in park with girl, 6

BROOKS, AB – A man under the influence of alcohol was arrested in Brooks on July 28 for allegedly approaching a young girl and attempting to befriend her.

RCMP in Brooks say the incident happened at about 6 p.m. Tuesday in Duke of Sutherland Park, when the man tried to “solicit personal and inappropriate information” from the six-year-old.

The suspect was reported to police and located with assistance from the public. The 40-year-old from Edmonton was arrested and charged with one count of causing a disturbance and three counts of failing to comply with a recognizance.

The suspect was released from custody with several conditions and is scheduled to appear in provincial court in Brooks on Oct. 7.
