Traffic stop in Medicine Hat connected to Calgary, Winnipeg
MEDICINE HAT, AB – An interprovincial effort begun by the Winnipeg Police Service led to traffic stop in Medicine Hat and a 24-year-old man from Calgary charged with possession of stolen property.
According to a release, Medicine Hat Police Service responded to a Winnipeg police report of a stolen BMW SUV nearing the Gas City.
Officers conducted a high-risk vehicle stop and arrested the Calgary man. Upon searching the vehicle police found an estimated $10,000 worth of stolen property believed to be from Manitoba. With the vehicle included the total value of recovered property is estimated to be more than $50,000.
The male is in custody awaiting a Judicial Interim Release hearing. Police say the name of the individual can’t be released until formal charges are sworn to before a justice of the peace and that more charges are pending from Winnipeg police.
