MEDICINE HAT, AB – Premier Jason Kenney and Brooks-Medicine Hat MLA Michaela Glasgo spent Canada Day in Medicine Hat and area on Wednesday.

The local agriculture tour included a stop at Big Marble Farms with Ryan and Albert Cramer.

And Neubauer Farms just southwest of the city with Nichole, Mark, Evie, and Logan.

They learned about Neubauer Farms’ 110-year-old operation and how they’re educating farmers of tomorrow.

Nicole Neubauer says agriculture plays an important role in our daily lives.

She says they need people to know it’s also a worthy career choice.

Adding that it doesn’t necessarily mean driving the tractor, but it might be working in research and development or consultation.

“I think it’s really important for people to consider that just because you maybe weren’t born and raised on a farm, a career in agriculture is a fantastic option. We know that the population of our planet continues to explode and as we venture towards 2050 where there’s the prediction we’ll have over 9-billion people on the planet, we’re going to need to attract the best and the brightest people to join our industry,” Neubauer said.

Kenney and Glasgo also learned about Prairie Rose School Division’s Southern Alberta Flight Academy.
