MEDICINE HAT, AB- A thunderstorm Saturday that brought heavy rain and hail flooded some Medicine Hat streets.

Along Division Avenue and 12 Street North, motorists dealt with several inches of water.

Twenty-year-old Kaytlynn Inesko and her two siblings were making the most of it by jumping in the pool of water near Crescent Heights High School.

“Ever since I was little I’ve always loved storms. When it is like this I would sit in it for hours so personally I love it. My little sisters not so much. It’s amazing how much it affects the city,” Kaytlynn Inesko said.

At 11 Street NE, it’s a less joyful atmosphere as homeowners deal with flooding once again.

One resident says they feel forgotten by the city.

“People got their basements repaired and now they are flooded again. The city is aware of the problem, they’ve been aware of it since back in early 2000’s,” Wendy Fayad-Dennis said, adding some of her neighbors have spent thousands on repairs.

Fayad-Dennis told CHAT News Today that she has phoned the city over the years about the issue, but they are still dealing with flooded streets.

“It’s very stressful, it causes anxiety, and we sandbagged the house a couple of years and it didn’t even keep the water out. The water found its way through the sandbags,” Fayad-Dennis said.

At 70-years-old Fayad-Dennis said she is looking to sell her home and move into a smaller place, but she’s not confident she will be able to do that, if her street continues to flood.
