MEDICINE HAT, AB – A local charity event has a new name, but it’s still supporting men’s health in Medicine Hat and area this summer.

The Teeing Off Fore Men’s Health golf tournament was formally known as Plaid For Dad and it’s being held in September this year.

Organizer Ryan Kingsley says they changed the tournament date due to COVID-19. The tournament was originally scheduled for the first Monday after Father’s Day on June 22.

He says the new name will also keep funds raised at the local level.

“Last year just after the tournament we decided that we would like to try to keep the money local instead of going to the national charity. So we changed the name to Teeing Off Fore Men’s Health with the same concept. We’re trying to raise money in order to support men and men’s cancers.”

Kinsley says all money will stay 100 percent local through the Medicine Hat & District Health Foundation.

The 2020 charity tournament will now be held on Tuesday, September 15.
