Safety concerns

Hazardous playground equipment to be removed

May 13, 2020 | 2:30 PM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – A hazard assessment has deemed two pieces of playground equipment in Crescent Heights dangerous and they will be removed from parks.

The merry-go-round in the park at Holt Crescent and the monkey bars at Riley Court will come down starting next week due to the safety concerns found.

The city says any possible replacement of the equipment will be done at a later date and in accordance with the Playground Management Plan. The plan helps guide the City of Medicine Hat in the planning, maintenance and investment of existing and future playgrounds and equipment, and helps determine the best use of these spaces.

The City of Medicine Hat is continuing with necessary construction, infrastructure renewal and repair work during the COVID-19 pandemic. Residents are asked to give crews space to work and adhere to physical distancing standards
