Phase one businesses invited to take part in town hall on Alberta’s relaunch strategy

MEDICINE HAT, AB- Businesses that received the go-ahead to reopen as early as May 14, are expected to get a clearer picture on how to reopen.

Phase one businesses in Alberta’s relaunch strategy are invited to take part in a telephone town hall tomorrow (May. 4), hosted by the Province of Alberta.

Phase one businesses include:

  • Retail businesses such as clothing, furniture and bookstores;
  • Some personal services, such as hairstyling and barber shops;
  • Museums and art galleries;
  • More scheduled surgeries and dental procedures;
  • Daycares with limits on occupancy;
  • Summer camps/summer school;
  • Cafés, restaurants (minors allowed in liquor-licensed establishments) with no bar service to reopen for public seating at 50 per cent capacity.
  • Some additional outdoor recreation

According to a release sent by the Medicine Hat & District Chamber of Commerce, the telephone town hall aims to answer questions about reopening, and the role of their business during this stage.

A number of government representatives will be joining in on the call to help answer any questions, including:

  • Premier Jason Kenney
  • Minister Travis Toews, Treasury Board and Finance
  • Minister Jason Nixon, Environment and Parks
  • Minister Leela Aheer, Culture, Multiculturalism and Status of Women
  • Minister Jason Copping, Labour and Immigration
  • Minister Tanya Fir, Economic Development, Tourism and Trade
  • Minister Rebecca Schulz, Children’s Services
  • Minister Tyler Shandro, Health
  • Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Chief Medical Officer of Health

The telephone Town Hall takes place May 4 (tomorrow) from 6p.m. to 8 p.m.

Businesses are asked to pre-register by 3p.m.
