Brooks rodeo cancelled for 2020

MEDICINE HAT, AB – One of the biggest events on the Brooks calendar has fallen victim to COVID-19.

The Brooks Kinsmen Club announced this week that this year’s edition of the Brooks Kinsmen Pro Rodeo has been cancelled.

“As a community organization whose mandate is the ‘Communities Greatest Needs’, we understand what everyone is going through right now, with the pandemic and with the current economic issues. Families are struggling with both issues and uncertain of what the future holds for each of us,” a statement from the club reads. “It is with all of this in mind that we have decided to cancel this year’s 2020 Pro Rodeo and Exhibition.”

The Brooks Kinsmen and Kinette Clubs felt that instead of asking the community to support the rodeo, any donations from supporters would be “more efficiently and effectively used to directly support their families, other community organizations and emergency actions.”
