Community Foundation establishes COVID-19 Relief Fund

Mar 26, 2020 | 3:15 PM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The Community Foundation of Southeastern Alberta has created a COVID-19 Relief Fund for Southeast Alberta to assist local charities that provide crucial services to the region’s most vulnerable populations.

“We are working closely with municipal leaders, funders and community partners to ensure that the greatest needs are being addressed in the communities we serve across southeastern Alberta,” says board chair Michael Anctil.

The relief fund will help with the needs that result from the medium- and long-term impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Donations are now being accepted for the fund online at https://bit.ly/CFSEA-COVIDfund or by phone at 403-527-9038.

The CFSEA announced last week it would repurpose the spring 2020 grant funding to address the most immediate and urgent needs of charities that are providing direct services in response to the pandemic.

“Community Foundations have the capacity to be responsive and nimble to emergent needs of the community. We know from our previous funds that supported flood relief efforts, the generosity of residents and their desire to help others is inspiring,” says executive director Chris Christie.
