WHITECOURT, AB – The Brooks Bandits (33-1-1) had their highest offensive output of the season, dominating the Whitecourt Wolverines 11-2 on Saturday at the Scott Safety Centre for their 9th straight win.

Defenceman Tim Rego (Mansfield, MA) scored a hat trick, while forward Randy Hernandez (Miami, FL) had two goals and an assist and captain Jakob Lee (Owen Sound, ON) added a goal and two assists. Goaltender Pierce Charleson (Aurora, ON) made 24 saves for his league leading 27th win of the year.

The Wolverines took a double minor for high sticking Bandit forward Marc-Antoine Benoit (Drummondville, QC) early in the first period and it proved costly. Brooks got two powerplay goals as forward James McIsaac (Winnipeg, MB) fired in a shot from the left circle at 1:53, followed by a Hernandez goal at the 2:12 mark, who finished off a behind-the-net pass from forward Brayden Krieger (Elora, ON). The Wolverines pulled their goalie Connor Ungar after the 2nd goal, with Vincent Duplessis coming in for the rest of the game.

Just 30 seconds later, Rego got his first of the night and it was 3-0 Bandits just 2:36 into the game.

Brooks kept pouring it on. Hernandez finished off another Krieger pass at the 7:17 mark to make it 4-0. That was followed by forward Sean Chisholm (Caledonia, ON) tapping in his 10th of the season at the 7:51 mark to make it 5-0. Rego found the net again at the 10:51 mark to make it 6-0.

Whitecourt got a goal back after Cole Carrier wristed in a puck to make it 6-1 at 11:20, but the Bandits responded at the 12:28 mark with a slapshot goal from defenceman Greg Japchen (Doylestown, PA) to make it 7-1.

The Bandits seven goals in the first period was the most in a period this season.

The 2nd period saw each team trade powerplay goals. Defenceman Adam Sandstrom scored for the Wolverines at the 14:42 mark on the powerplay, followed by a Krieger goal from the slot at 17:55 to make it 8-2.

The 3rd period saw Lee score at 2:25, Rego complete the hat trick on a wraparound at 11:51, and forward TJ Hughes (Hamilton, ON) at 13:40 for an 11-2 final.

The Bandits have won five straight on the road, and finish their weekend road trip outscoring the Grande Prairie Storm and Wolverines 17-2.
