BREAKING – Multi-vehicle accident near Bassano

Bassano, AB – A two vehicle collision near Bassano has authorities warning travellers to expect delays.

The collision is south of the Trans-Canada Highway and Hwy. 550 junction and is affecting both directions and occurred at approximately 10:30, according to Alberta 511.

The collision occurred at 10:30 a.m.

RCMP say a pickup truck heading east on the highway collided with a semi-truck. The lone occupant of the pickup was taken to hospital by EMS with serious, life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the semi was not injured.

A release from RCMP say traffic in the area is currently restricted to one lane. It is anticipated it will remain restricted for approximately 1-2 hours.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area or expect delays.

Road conditions and visibility is extremely poor and motorists are cautioned to avoid unnecessary travel.
