MEDICINE HAT, AB — The Medicine Hat College Rattlers have hired a new men’s volleyball coach.

Former Rattler Tyler Olson will be the interim head coach of the men’s team starting Monday, according to a release from the team late Thursday.

Kim Stonehouse, the Rattlers women’s volleyball coach, will remain with the men’s program in a mentorship role. She had been helping coach the men’s team following the resignation of Mark Porter earlier this month.

“We are happy with the appointment of Tyler to lead the men’s volleyball team,” said Terry Ballard, manager of sport and wellness, in a news release. “We saw an opportunity for a young man to begin his professional coach development under the guidance of an experienced mentor in Kim Stonehouse.

“Rattlers Athletics is very familiar with Tyler as he is a Rattlers men’s volleyball alum, a past president of the Rattlers student leadership group, RALI, and a business student at MHC.”
