Drug mule handed one year in jail

Medicine Hat, AB – A woman described as a drug mule with no criminal record was handed a one-year jail sentence Thursday.

Lisa Marie Windsor, 34, was arrested by members of the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT) on Dec. 12, 2018 along with a male co-accused near Bassano.

The court heard the pair were under surveillance in the lead up to the arrest with officers observing Windsor exit the vehicle she was a passenger in and enter another vehicle for a short time in Calgary.

The two were arrested as they travelled back to the Brooks area and were found with 115 grams of methamphetamine.

Subsequent to Windsor’s guilty plea, the charges against her co-accused were withdrawn.
