Premier Speaks Out

Kenney says time for talk is over with Liberal government

Edmonton, AB – After the Liberals failed to secure a single seat in Alberta or Saskatchewan, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said he hears Alberta’s frustrations.

Premier Jason Kenney says that isn’t enough though and the time for talk is over.

“To the Prime Minister, with whom I spoke to earlier today in congratulating him in his re-election, I made this plain. If you want to support us you must support us to get our oil and gas to international markets,” Kenney said in the legislature today.

Kenney says he’s sent a five-page letter to Trudeau outlining his concerns.

“I’ve called upon him not to make any deals or arrangements with either the NDP, the separatist Bloc Quebecois, or the anti-Alberta Green Party that would endanger progress on the Transmountain pipeline.”

Kenney added that if significant progress isn’t made on the Trans Mountain Pipeline, he’s prepared to hold a referendum on equalization payments.

The Premier said that he believes to have a strong Canada, the country needs a strong Alberta.

Kenney also announced that will be creating another panel.

This one will “eminent Albertans” to consult on other ways Albertans can “secure our role in fairness in the Canadian Federation”.
