MEDICINE HAT, AB — Residents will be able to have their say about a proposed supervised consumption site in Medicine Hat on Tuesday.

The government of Alberta is holding a public engagement session in Medicine Hat on Tuesday at the HomeStay Inn and Suites in Heritage Ballrooms A and B. The session is scheduled to get underway at 5 p.m and run until 9 p.m.

The committee, according to the province, is evaluating the social and economic impacts of current and proposed supervised consumption sites in the province. The committee says they will hear feedback on multiple topics, including crime rates, needle debris, complaints of social disorder, residential property values, business impacts and overdose reversals, among others.

Funding for a proposed site in Medicine Hat, which would be located on South Railway Street, is currently on hold.

The government is asking people interested in attending to pre-register here.

There will be a security check and a bag check at the door, and posters and banners will not be allowed.

Those unable to attend can submit feedback online to SCSReview@gov.ab.ca.
